JOB TITLE

Apprentice Retail Assistant (Ecommerce Environment)

TRAINING

Training will be provided leading to a Level 2 Qualification in Retail Skills with Truro College.

BASED AT

Business premises of Love Kate’s and Handy Ideas based on Trenissick Rural Park, Cubert, NEWQUAY.

JOB PURPOSE

To help fulfil customer internet orders, including picking, packing and posting individual orders on a daily basis.  Receiving deliveries of new stock and unpacking, checking and restocking shelves.  Helping to maintain a clean, tidy and organised stock room to ensure the smooth operation of a busy and growing ecommerce retail outlet.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work within a small team;

Assist with daily pick of customer orders;

Assist with packing of customer orders ready for dispatch; 

Assist with preparation of packed orders for collection by Royal Mail;

Help meet busy deadlines and tight timescales during busy periods;

Help to receive and check off deliveries of new stock;

Help prepare new lines for listing for sale on the internet;

Help maintain stock and stockroom shelves;

Help maintain adequate levels of packaging materials;

Assist with customer returns and enquiries;

Deal with any visitors appropriately including preparing refreshments where required;

Refer to and use multichannel IT software as required (e.g for stock level checking);

Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work area and stockroom.

HOURS OF WORK

30 to 42.5 hours per week to be agreed with successful candidate, possibility of shorter hours in spring/summer and longer hours autumn/winter.

HOLIDAYS

20 Days (Plus Bank Holidays) per year

Holidays may not be taken in November or December

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

5 GCSE’s grade A-C preferred, ideally including Maths, English and ICT.  Training will be provided.

PREFERRED SKILLS

No experience is necessary.  The ideal candidate will be both literate and numerate.  A tidy and methodical person would be well suited to the role. 

ADDITIONAL NOTES

This position would suit someone with an interest in retail and will offer an insight into internet retailing and stock room management as well as leading to a recognised qualification in Retail Skills. The Apprenticeship position is offered initially for a 1 year duration during which time it is expected for the successful candidate to achieve their qualification.  After this time there may be the opportunity to progress to a higher level qualification and/or a full time position of employment.   Opportunities to progress into other areas of the business could exist for the right person as the businesses continue to grow.

Own transport would be useful as location is approx. 1 mile from nearest village of Cubert, however buses do pass nearby (Truro to Newquay route).
